A majority of Qualcomm’s revenue comes from the licensing of chips and other patented technologies to manufacturers. In fact, many of the advancements made in the iPhone and other mobile devices over the last two decades were made possible by innovations at Qualcomm. Despite the company’s considerable contributions to the industry, manufacturers like Apple supported legislative measures to weaken the patent laws that would ultimately diminish the value of intellectual property, thereby threatening Qualcomm’s existence. Instead of trying to explain the intricacies of patent law, we showed how an attack on patent rights undermines the innovative spirt that has made this country great. Hence, Save the American Inventor was born.
